ride refunds
If the ride information states clearly that
there is a refund policy, with conditions, then a rider could expect a refund if
those conditions are met. Frankly, I find it very generous of ride
managers to offer a refund. There is considerable expense, in time if not
in actual dollars, in putting on a ride. If a ride manager can turn a
profit, that is, cover the funds expended, then s/he is probably barely covering
the administrative and operational time spent on the ride.
When a ride manager offered me a refund because my
horse did not pass the initial vet inspection, I was very surprised. Being
impecunious at this momemt, I accepted. However, I accepted not without
some guilt - after all, I made the attempt to go on the ride. My
rationale in accepting was that then this was a guarantee that I'd have the
entry fee for the next ride. (And yes, very understandably the $10 for the
veterinarian was excluded from the refund.)
