I think I am going to attach a playing card to my mountain bike wheel
and count out how many clicks it takes to do a certain measured
distance.  Then I will ride the bike, and count, the trail.  I'm just
trying to measure short distances - 5 miles and less for starting young
horses on -  so I don't want to buy topo map CD-ROMS or GPSs!

I'm open to other ideas!  Lif
