RE: RE: RE: "In foal" and competing

Perhaps you should read the AERC Rules and Regulations. A copy is provided
to every AERC Member and it is also available on line. That is the basis for
the conduct of this organizations competitive events. Any condensation of
these rules is strictly non-official and does not supplement or supercede
the Rules and Regulations. A Ride Manager may in the interests of protecting
the entrants and horses supplement the AERC Rules and Regulations but, these
supplements must be in writing and discussed at the Pre-ride meeting and be
provided to all entrants.

Bob Morris
Member of the Rules Committee (for a long time)

I do not remember who gave me or sent me the "condensation of rules"...
I think it came through a ride manager who sent me some information
about a ride... I had also received that same "condensation" several
years ago when my interest was first piqued about distance riding. I
have never questioned it before because it never applied to me. Since
the info I got was last year, I did not think that was outdated. I
guess I am surprised that there is such a variety of "rules" out there.
This "condensation" I received never indicated any source and until I
saw the posts about competing while in foal, I had never thought about
it. I ride a gelding. I guess it is necessary for me to verify any
information before accepting it at face value. I guess I missed out on
the debate!
Maggie
