RE: "In foal" and competing
AERC Rules do not address this subject. This is between you, the mare and
your vets advice. Many mares are better off staying in competition (also
condition) than they are becoming pasture potatoes.

The UMECRA (and AERC?) rules say no mares in foal are
allowed to compete. A friend's mare is being bred
two weeks before an AERC ride she wants to attend;
is she not allowed to compete?! Or, does "in foal"
officially mean visibly pregnant? Kris
