RC: SS Suede vs. smooth
Cindy,
I received my suede trainer with the endurance front and high cantle
with cheyanne roll in April. I ride 3 to 4 times per week for anywhere
from a half hour (schooling a youngster) to 4+ hours on my friend's
older horses (saying that before I get flamed for spending that much
time on my 3 yr. old!) The sticking power is indeed nice for the
youngster, but lousy for the ones who know what they're doing!
Especially when it's hot and humid.
>Question #1: Is the care of a suede saddle the same as for a pair of
suede
>shoes?
I don't know. I haven't figured it out and the saddle came with no
instructions. How does one properly take care of suede?
>Question #2: How quickly would the nap on a suede saddle wear out and
>become slick and shiny?
Mine is already showing signs of getting shiny. Have done 60 competitive
miles in it.
>Question #3: Will water (rain, sponging, etc.) damage suede more
and/or
>faster than smooth leather?
Don't have a longterm answer to this one, but short term, it doesn't
seem to make any difference.
