Follow-up on no solution to this...

Thanks for the advice.
Angie, no, I posted most of the 30 miles. I didn't stand much.
It was a some-what flat trail, single track.
I just placed him behind our "leader" and relaxed.
I concentrated on staying loose and posting.
I really thought that this saddle fit pretty well.
These welts and now, white spots, were the first indication that I needed a change. I ride with a thick Toklat wool pad.
The saddle just came back from the saddle maker. They thought that the measurements showed that the saddle was slightly too wide and so, sitting too low. The tree now feels very different. I only hope it really fits well.
I feel foolish that I didn't figure this out before causing some harm to his back...
