I'm still (whimper, whimper) sleeping in my Suburban. However, I do a lot of
mooching from friends going to rides. Here's what I think: Motorhomes break
down ALOT! I've been stranded on the side of most of the major highways in
the US due to motorhome breakdowns -- and this was a fairly new one (2 or 3
years old). Once in Las Vegas, the danged thing broke down and we had to
wait almost a week for our turn on the thingy that raises the motor home up
so that the mechanic can get underneath it (sorry if this is too technical
for most of you). Anyway, if the thingy that raises it up IS available,
you'll probably have to wait days for the appropriate part. I'm seriously
considering NOT mooching from my motorhome friends any more and going
strictly with mooching from people with LQ trailers or trucks and campers.
Seriously, my personal choice if I'm ever actually going to buy one, is a
truck and camper with my Logan horse trailer behind. That way I don't have
to haul LQ around with me when I'm not going to a ride (can't afford TWO
trailers). Can dump the camper and still have a truck to haul dogs and kids
to the beach (or wherever). Good luck, and please, when you do get your
living quarters, find a way to post to Ridecamp so I won't find out about it.
Jealousy is not a pretty sight!
