Ooops, that was badly worded on my part. I stopped using
that bit because I was not happy putting that much in his
mouth ... even if it is considered standard gear for the
breed. I don't believe they are being "cruel", they use
these bits because they are standard gear and they seem to
think that the control comes from the bit. No one is
perfect, and no bit is perfect for all horses. I just
wince everytime I see one of them yank full force on the
reins. I've ridden her horse before bareback w/halter ...
the horse understands seat and leg cues.

But you trained and graduated to this level ...
