My previous post was a bit snotty, I didn't mean to sound
that way.  To clarify a little I was referring to the people
who put the tack catalogs together, not the bit
manufacturers.  The only time it matters what you call
something is when you're trying to describe a piece of
equipment and you want to be clear.  I'm sure the horses
don't care what we call it.

I generally depend on horsemen I know and trust, but I'm
also open to hear others' opinions and experiences even
though some may be "misinformed".  I'm new to endurance and
have met a lot of people recently, many of whom are
outstanding horsemen with more experience than I'll probably
ever attain.  I'm watching and listening, sifting through
mountains of information, and making new friends whose
knowledge I can also depend on.  RideCamp is just like any
other Internet forum, people can say anything.  But it is an
extremely valuable source of information IMO.
