I've been reading the scissor snap posts and figured someone else would
suggest a simple solution that I learned from my barrel racing buddies. If
you wrap a rubber band tightly around the scissor part of the snap before
you attach it to anything, it makes the snap harder to open and keeps them
from twisting open. That way you can still open them if you have to, it
just takes more pressure. Always check the bands to make sure that they
are still flexible as they do rot after a while and have to be replaced.
