This is still a big problem in our area with the western faction of riders.
I even saw a little girl (about 6 or 7 years old) at one of the local
fairs recently that was competing in a games area with no helmet -- and
*her feet tied to the stirrups*!!
All of my riding students are required to wear helmets at all times...and
also to watch "Every Time, Every Ride" -- a very poignant video that has
persuaded several non-helmet wearers to reconsider their stand.
My favorite tho, is a quote I heard on the internet several years ago that
is going to be posted in my barn --
"If you think your hairdo is more important than your brains, you're
probably right."
