I have a leather halter bridle too. I do it the way April and Apache do, but
I found it too hard to clip one side then the other. I clip one side, her
left side, hold it up with my left hand against her teeth (no ramming.) use
my right finger to pry her mouth open a tad (she was never good at opening.
Someone used to ram her teeth)and slip it in. Then I clip her right side. I
love my bridle halter combo. It took a few times to figure this out, but it's
much easier. She used to get the bit stuck on her teeth when taking it out.
Now, I can just unhook one side, let go and she pushes it out with her tongue
nice and easy. Just remember when taking the bit out to unclip the reins and
attatch them onto the halter ring where you lead the horse. Deb
