Self-defense on the trail
The June issue of Practical Horseman has an excellent article on self-defense
for a rider on the trail. With so many distance riders riding alone while
conditioning and training personal safety is an issue.
I had asked a mounted policeman friend several years ago about mace or other
sprays and their effect on horses. He said, as does this article, that mace
does not bother horses.
I highly recommend everyone reading this article (2 parts) and thinking about
what she/he would do in a situation with an assailant.
