Re: RC: Dropping Ticks!
Some of the first Lyme disease cases in CA were contracted by people who
coincidentally were horse camping under live oak trees (Fort
Hunter-Liggett, an annual ETI campout). Their horses also had lots of
ticks on them - we noticed that at the time, although I don't remember
any of the horses getting sick. The horses that were at camps that
weren't under the trees didn't have as many ticks. So the following
years when we went back to that place, none of us ever camped under the
trees because we figured they were dropping from them. Whether they
were or not, we got less ticks on the horses and ourselves.
