I live in California and have ridden endurance for the last 23 years, as many of you know California has had a drug testing policy for many years and it is not limited to just endurance or horse shows. All equine events are tested including but not limited to parades, sales, jimcanas, ect. I think this is a great idea. I know on many endurance rides the testers will try and get urine samples randomly and take blood samples from the top ten as they are judged. The fee is paid by all who enter the events and if illegal substances are found you can be fined by the state. It is too bad all states do not have the resources that California dose.
