Leatherman-style tools

I agree on the third point, but beg to differ on "quite compact" and
"reasonably light." If I can make one tool do two jobs, why carry both?
There isn't a whole lot else that a clinch cutter is good for, given
its shape and weight. Splitting kindling, perhaps, to light signal fires
in the wilderness if I fall off.

Now that is something that I did not know! Maybe when I have to
finally break down and add another equipment pack to my rigging.
It is, after all, something the horse could carry. If he dumps
me and takes off, *I* sure don't need it!
