I'm so sorry to hear that this happened!  Hopefully this is an isolated incident up where you live. 

 

I've ridden endurance or CTR in the SE & NE for nearly 17 years and I have never had any problems.  For quite a while I sold tack at the events.  I could walk away from it all and never find anything missing later.  (Maybe some notes to see so & so at trailer xyz about prices or a wish list.) 

 

Can you wear your truck key on a wrist band or in a small secure pocket?  You also may be able to hide the key in an obscure place on the trailer, etc.  Then you could lock up important things in your truck - out of sight/out of mind.  You'd be a less attractive target.
