Re: RC: RC: Branding - why I did it
Nancy - RE Legal to brand on both sides in NM
I think it's probably legal in lots of states. It's just that when a
livestock inspector was asked about Kryo Kinetic's freeze marking back
in the early 80's (people were trying to figure out what would be the
best way to protect their horses from theft), the article I read said
that when livestock is run through the chutes being inspected for brands
before auction (or other reasons), the livestock inspector is not
required to inspect both sides of the animal. Maybe (hopefully) things
have changed in 15 years, but I would definitely be interested to know
if anything has in fact changed - especially where large lots of animals
are being moved in short time, I find it hard to believe an inspector
would bother to check both sides, or that there would be 2 inspectors,
one on each side. Anyone know for sure? Lif
