Re: Dogs/sportack #/thorowgood
Thanks for the input. The heat is what I also worry about.
Water is pretty plentiful, about every few miles. When I
was a vet tech, we used to advise people not to shave their
dogs, as the hair actually helps cool them,(and if cut too
short, can actually let them get sunburned,) but now I can
see the owners point of view. When you look down and see
that tongue lolling, you start to wonder about them being
able to cool down appropriately. I would hate to be 15
miles out and have him get heat exhaustion. He's way to
heavy to carry, and the horses don't like him THAT much!
Also, thanks for the sportack e-mail addy. I couldn't find
it on their website. I had posted previously about their
woolback pad/cordura top saddle pad. Now I think I will let
them give me their input. The cost for either is about the
same, just want to get what is most practical and horse
friendly.
About the thorowgood. Will be trying it today/this evening.
As for where the billets attach. They seem to be
stitched/attached permanently. No rings that I could find.
So it doesn't appear that you can just replace the billets.
(Unless a saddle person does it.) I am counting the last 2
hours til I get to tack up! (Looking at a clock sure
doesn't make it move any quicker!)
Thanks again for all your help,
Heidi
