Re: Dogs on training rides
I have had good trail dogs in the past. If they are properly conditioned it
is not the distance that gets them (think of dog sled races of up to 1500
miles), it is the heat. Dogs are much more susceptible to heat problems
than people or horses. Watch him closely as the weather gets warm.
I had a golden retriever who was sensible enough to stop and refuse to go on
when she got to hot. On the other hand I had an English Setter who would
have run until he dropped.
