Re: RC: RE: Need Vet Advice-Help?
The head slinging thing could be a sign of defiance from the horse (as such,
I would recommend a sharp
"no" in response). There's always the remote possiblity that the horse's
teeth need to be checked.
My stallion, who had several hundred miles of competition behind him was
still pivoting & spooking along the trails at home (especially on bright,
sunny days) when it dawned on me that 1) he wasn't really a green horse
anymore, and 2) he had been on these trails for yrs, and 3) he was probably
just amusing himself with spooking games as he was far less spooky on
competitions. I started getting after him when he spooked, scolding him.
He's far better now (several months later), rarely pivots now, altho he will
slow down to give something a close look (I can deal with that better than a
full canter pivot!).
Good luck!
