The idea of squaring the toes behind is that there is actually less toe
sticking out to grab the front quarter or shoe. I'm not particularly enamored
of the idea, but Matthew Mackay-Smith likes it, perhaps for a different
reason, and Matthew's "been there, done that" as far as endurance is
concerned.
