my mare had her first foal at 10 - yes I waited - wouldn't nurse that silly
filly at her side.
then, at sixteen, delivered on her own a healthy colt, but, with one one
around, bled to death from a prolapsed uterus.
yes, I understand that placenta left internal can cause infections. Try the
vet school/college nearest you for futher information if your vet doesn't
satisfy your concerns.
