You mentioned that you haven't been riding much due to a back injury. Some years ago after a back injury, I found that I was very unbalanced in the saddle compensating for the effects of the injury. Perhaps you should have someone ride behind you and watch to see if you are doing something that may be putting extra strain on your horse in some area. ><< My chestnut Arab is flinching from > any > pressure on his loin area.
