Re: RC: "Weighty issue"
A couple of comments:
I would be thrilled to win a BC, but I learned a long time ago that any kind
of juding of my horse is subjective. I know my horse best, so I take CTR or
vet check judging with a grain of salt. My horse might score better than he
really is, or vice versa. I take satisfaction in how I think my horse did
--- perhaps a completion with no leg fill & good recoveries is excellent for
my first 50. Any placings are always icing on the cake.
IAHA CTR's & I believe IAHA endurance rides make no allowance for weight.
Neither do FEI rules, other than every horse must carry a minimum weight (I
believe it's 165 or 170 pounds).
Having worked on a few CTR's, never an endurance ride which looks like even
more of a challenge, the burden on ride management of any changes should be
carefully considered. If a change is made, hopefully the KISS principle will
be considered. We don't want to discourage those brave souls who put on the
rides that we all enjoy (it's cold, it's raining, we got lost on the trail
---- are we having fun yet?!?!)
My $.02,
Nancy
