Just for general information, The Tevis Cup has been won by horses carrying
more than 200 pounds on 10 occasions, and at least twice by horses with more
than 220 lbs. In 1977 6 of the Top 10 horses carried in excess of 200 lbs.,
236, 217, 202, 225, 230 and 213. They finished second, fourth, fifth,
seventh, eighth and ninth.
In the last 10 years the Tevis has been won 7 times by either veterinarians
or persons who lived on the trail. The Haggin Cup [bc] has been won 7 times
either by vets or people who live on the trail. And we also had 4 riding
instructors win. Interesting statistics....MB
