>Usually after about 20 miles of riding, I start getting >this odd pain deep down in my foot - it seems to originate somewhere >around the ball of my foot and radiates outward to my toes, creating an >incredible burning sensation, then it shoots up my leg. Could be plantar fasciitis or peripheral neuropathy...fancy names for an inflammation of the nerves in that area. Do you have any numbness in any toes? I'm *not* a doctor (but I *am* an RN -- with very old feet and ankles that have suffered thru multiple accidents connected with the current sport of choice!! ;-) Steve says I'm living proof that if you take enough lessons and practice long and hard enough, even a klutz like me can get good at something! <g>) I would recommend talking to one if it continues for a long time, gets worse, or yours toes feel weird. What I *do* know for certain is that a lot of foot complaints can be remedied with good support and shock absorbing cushioning...particularly good arch supports! Weak ankles may also be very improved with good arch support. Well...I'm off to stress my old, overworked feet (with Ariats and *good* arch supports...and NO ankle supports any more <g>) and enjoy a couple of days of riding in Washington when it's not raining!! The mountains are out and they've been *spectacular* with so much snow on them...and the spring flowers are blooming. The air smells sooo nice...being out is a real assault on the senses!! And, to celebrate my birthday yesterday, we broke the record for temps on that day...82 in Seattle...about 35 degrees warmer than last Friday!
