1. how long through your pregnancies have you competed in endurance races

Just want to get your opinions as most OB/GYNs do not know what its like to
ride/train/race horses. I figure they will m=

I wasn't riding endurance when I was having my kids, but I don't think I
would have risked going to a competition while pregnant. Too many variables
with all those excited horses! (especially mine) I did, however, ride till
my 8th month both times (had to quit because I couldn't fit my tummy behind
the saddle horn of my western saddle any more -- maybe I could have ridden
longer if I'd switched to an endurance saddle!). I never had any problem and
my doctor felt that as long as it was an activity I was used to, I should go
ahead until it became uncomfortable. I did ride conservatively and never
alone (just in case). Also, I swear that my horse (Paint...Before Endurance)
KNEW I was pregnant and took extra care. Sounds wacky, but he was kind of a
hot little guy when I wasn't pregnant, but through both pregnancies he became
this unspookable, mellow (kind of boring) guy. AFTERWARDS he reverted to
form though :) One thing, don't ride too soon after delivery. I missed
riding so much and was dying to ride, so went for a little jaunt TWO DAYS
after delivery....OUCH! My doctor had some choice words for me on that
little adventure!
