Depends on the wormer. Pyrantel, for instance, is very poorly absorbed by
the GI tract of the horse, which is why it is a good dewormer--it stays
where the nematodes are. A 20-fold overdose results in no elevation in
liver enzymes.

You could make that argument about *any* infection. Does that make HIV
equivalent to influenza, bacterial pneumonia, or osteomyelitis?
The main pathogenic feature of HIV is that it *targets* cells of the
immune system. It does not gain a foothold because the victim is
immunocompromised--it *causes* the compromise, hence HIV+ individuals are
at risk for other infections.
EPM does not target the immune system.
