Safe place to camp near Needles, Calif.

Hi All,
  I will be traveing into California through Needles, hope to be there by nightfall for the first evenings rest. I'll be hauling horses so I am looking for a fairground or somewhere safe to camp at
Needles or close by. Does anyone know of a place ?
