I would love to hear from the vets on this one as I have been under the
assumption that the virus can live for a very long time on things like horse
blankets, halters, buckets, etc. With that in mind, I would think that boots
and people clothing could carry it also. When my 20 year old gelding had
strangles, I quarantined him and when he recovered threw everything
(including his halter) away. Over reaction? Maybe. But strangles is a
nasty disease and I didn't want to take any chances.
