Choke in horses

Dear Ridecampers,
     I am researching "choke" in horses for a possible article.  If you have 
ever had a horse who started "choking" or is prone to choking I would love to 
hear from you.  I have never witnessed this phenomena myself, but have been 
told it is horrible, and that the affected horses often seem as if they are 
going to die on the spot.
