Mold/ mildew in trailer electrical connection?

Greetings

I have the infamous Northwest green mold/mildew thriving in my trailer's brake/lights connector.  It's starting to impact the effectiveness of the connection; the last couple of times I've hooked up, I've had to rub the connector with a rag to get the turn signals and lights to work.

Does anyone have a safe/effective way to clean this gunk out of the connector?
