Re: RC: Diagnosis: Navicular
Hi Lauren -
I know this is a tough & expensive blow, but I think you will be wise to sell
& move on. My experience was similar only I tried for about a year & a half
to salvage some participation in some form of distance riding. I was able to
ride drag for CTRs, but keeping the corrective shoes on was a problem &
finally I realized the best thing I could do was sell him to someone who
would maintain the treatment & shoeing & use him for something other than
trail events.
He went to a dressage owner, lives in an air conditioned barn, competes
successfully (last I heard) & is happy as a clam.
Sometimes I drift into the "what if's" because he was an awesome athlete -
but he could not be awesome in the sport I love so I am content to know he is
awesome to someone else.
Good luck,
Lori, Sky & Packy
