That's why interval training works.....work at a faster gait for a short
period (stress), back off for recovery, then move faster again....don;t
always trust the horse to do what is best....they will try to do MORE than
they are ready for. You will find after repeated bouts of interval work that
your horses' heart rate WILL improve.
Can't say it enough...read "The Fit Racehorse II" (Tom Ivers). He explains
it in detail and FAR better than I can. I promise you, this book will
EXCITE you to try bigger and better things.
