Thrush
As my farrier explained it to me, thrush is caused by bacteria growing
in the soil (or barn) where your horse lives. It doesn't necessarily
just reside in all mud. My horses are in a dirt paddock which can be
muddy for weeks at a time. I can be quite irregular with hoof cleaning.
This paddock has been used for various horses for 12 years and none of
them have ever had thrust. He said he can't imagine them getting it as
it's just not present where they are.
