Horse Management question.

Currently, I've done limited distance - some NATRC 22/16 and 25 and
30 mile LD rides. I would like to move up to a fifty this year. My
horse is kept at a boarding stable, in a stall about 12 by 12 with an
attached paddock about 12 by 18. If I don't have time to ride, I at
least turn him out in the arena (covered), and/or lunge him, so he gets
out nearly every day. Rarely, I skip a day. Question - as he gets more
fit, is this enough to keep him from getting into trouble? (Mentally
and physically. He doesn't have a lot of filling in his
legs, and I want to keep it that way!) Pasture
turnout would be ideal, but is not an option unless I move - and I
would really miss that covered arena for the wintertime! Does anyone
who does 100s or multidays keep their horses in stalls and paddocks
also? My boy seems pretty happy - he can see lots of activity from
where he is. Happy trails!
