Re: beet pulp, fat?
Beet pulp has very little fat to it, and what there is isn't very
bioavailable. For the most part, in most normal feeds like grains and
forages, only about half of the fat content (what they call "ether extract")
is really fat available as an energy source. The other half are fat-soluble
vitamins like carotenes, natural pigments like chlorophyll and things like
that. So that's probably why the analysis says none---to all intents and
purposes, beet pulp is not a source of fat. It's primarily going to supply
soluble fiber, which are still digested in the cecum, but are more
digestible than the insoluble fibers that take more effort to digest.
However, beet pulp is a dandy *carrier* for fats, so feel free to just add
your own! :-)
