A matter of tack
Hello ridecampers!
After buying a new bridle for my Arab and carefully ordering it in Cob/Arab
size, I had to, as always, take it down to the shoe repair and have them
shorten everything but the browband. I think I have done this with just
about every leather bridle I have ever ordered. In sheer exasperation, I
am thinking about hooking up with a couple of manufacturers to do
semi-custom bridles and starting an internet business selling leather
bridles measured in inches. Something like three headstall sizes, three
noseband sizes and three browband sizes. You measure your horse and place
an order for the three individual sizes that most closely match your horse.
That's just three Arab sizes. If I expand this, I think I'd go up to
warmblood size and carry three extra large sizes too. I hear Warnblood
owners complain about not being able to get anything big enough. So, tell
me are there enough of you out there still riding with leather tack that
have the same problem and would consider this a solution? Would an extra
$10 added to the cost of a compareable off the rack bridle be reasonable?
(It costs me $12-14 plus time to get the bridle altered, so that doesn't
seem out of line to me - but please tell me if it does to you!) Please
respond privately as this is only marginally endurance related, but I will
tally responses and post the totals back to the list.
