Hi Maggie:

We usually  have a complete CBC done before the season starts more for a
baseline in case we  have problems down the road.  Also, ofcourse to
determine if he is in the normal range.  Some things like selenium are not
included in the CBC and has to be done separately.  Since we are in a
selenium deficient area, all our horses are supplemented and we do not
usually have that done unless we see an indication in the conditioning
program that there might be a problem.
