Gee, I wonder what it was I said that would have injured a child. Sandy,
"sandy loam" wasn't a reference to you or yours. Did I cuss at anybody? I
don't think so. And isn't it logical that a child might enjoy "childish
nonsense"? I believe, overall, the most offense was taken at the phrase "ivory
tower".  Or perhaps your daughter found "posturing" frightful. 

Rather than having me guess, why don't you tell us which phrase elicited the
gasp and damaged your child's sensibilities. I'll certainly apologise for it.
And I just might never use it again.
