Biotin
On to a different topic . . .
So I've noticed you encourage the feeding of Biotin. My feeding
philosophy is in general "Feed a natural diet. Unless your foodstuffs
are deficient, you don't need to add it except to repair a defect in the
horse."
So following that premise, feeding grass hay, beet pulp, vit A, I would
think would be okay. If I had a horse who was wear-&-tearing his
joints, I'd probably add GAGs. If I were actively distance riding these
days, I'd add vit E. If my grass hay weren't the best (I'm lucky) I'd
give a multivite thing. E/Selenium where needed.
I think if I were out of Ca:P balance, I'd use either wheat bran or
alfalfa in small amounts to adjust the balance. Is that an okay plan?
So what exactly IS Biotin (I thought it was a B vitamin?) and in what
way am I not getting enough of it in The Basic Diet?
Why is it the more I know the more I realize I know nothing?!? It's very
frustrating.
