alpha mares
I am silly to have one wanna-be (not really, she's loved it now tha I've
taken over) and my new young one who has been an alpha....and needs to
learn her place. I've een doing round pen exercises every time before
I do anything else (she's been mine for just a month..)
The other thing I'm going to do if she doesn't behave consistently
submissive to me is to put food at two places in HER pen...would
probably work in a round pen, too...then, as soon as she stops to
eat...drive her away from it......the fellow that runs our boarding barn
talked about this for a horse that is territorial...I'm thinking it will
translate to the generally alpha horse.....jan
