Starved horses

Actually Susan, I don't think that is true-though I have not looked at the
starvation literature recently. Carolyn Stull and Ann Rodiek at Cal Poly
have been doing really neat research on feeding starved horses lately and
may be able to shed more light. It is my impression that you can bring them
back, though it takes a long time. Cellular atrophy is not necessarily the
same as cellular death.
Sarah (who, like Susan, actually ventures into the "sandy loam" on her
horse and has ridden and managed ride since 1986 and has been judging rides
since 1980. Haven't heard of ti doing any rides recently)
