slow anyway (around 5-6 hours). If my gelding seems sound, do you think it
would be wise to take him on this ride or would I be asking for trouble. I
think I might have a back up horse (thanks Lori!) but if at all possible I
would like to take my gelding! I have never had to deal with a muscle
pull........any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would hesitate to attempt this one. Last "shoulder" I experienced took
several months to come around. The horse may soon appear to go sound, but will
go lame again under stress. Better let it heal.
