Have his teeth checked, by a good equine dentist (not a vet who floats
teeth). Something is probably hurting him somewhere. There are pressure
points you can check up near your horses poll that may alert you to any
pain going on there. (sorry I'm not good at explaining....but I could show
you)....
I don't know what region you are riding in, but I know that if you were top
tenning every 50 in this region, you wouldn't be riding at a pace that is
conservative.
Your horse probably would not be top tenning if he didn't love what he
does. Something is probably bothering him. Maybe a vacation would be
helpful as well.
