I think Sandy's hit the nail on the head---few people, including RMs, really
object to well-behaved dogs that don't cause problems, and different people
have legitimate reasons for having a dog along. So, isn't the real issue
not about having dogs at base camp, but how to deal with the few people
whose dogs *do* cause a problem?
