the dog debate
<<Wow, Hot topic! I have not brought dogs to rides, but lets look at this
issue
from a different point of view. The woman who travels alone.>>
yeah, but......
i AM one of those women that travels alone...a lot. from one side of the
states to the other....up and down the east coast like theres no tomorrow.
all by myself. in a little sports car no less. and i only had one
problem in over 250,000 miles (and that was a pick-up truck full of north
carolina yahoos between raleigh and the SC border)
i dont have a dog...i really dont even LIKE dogs (cats and horses for me,
thank you), but i have no problems with a WELL-behaved dog. problem
is....there are people out there who think everyone loves _their_ dog.
case in point...a friend of my husband has a dog. she takes it in the
backcountry with her all the time. the dog is a nuisance! hes never on a
leash.... runs up to everyone...wants to be all over them...and i think its
a general pain in the rear. i really dont want to go out to the back
country with her...and she _does_ think everyone loves her dog.
i dont have problems with dogs....or kids for that matter....but keep them
tied up/locked up/under control...whatever your preference.
it seems to me the majority of ridecampers here are _responsible_ (thank
god!!) as always, the problem is....what do we do about those who are
_not_?
