In our region, some of our rides are located at facilities for which we pay
a fee to use, and must abide by their rules which include whether or not
dogs are allowed. Susan G. already mentioned Hansen Dam's policy--if there
is a dog in the vehicle, they're turned away at the gate. It would be a
shame to lose rides because some people do not abide by the facility's
rules. I think Glenda's policy of calling ahead is a good one.
At my ride, the county park has a stated policy of charging a fee per dog.
I made it clear in the ride flyer that it might be collected, but it might
not. It wasn't, last year.
I'm not comfortable with loose dogs in camp unless their owners are right
at hand supervising.
One of the things I enjoy the most at rides is getting to play with fellow
campers' dogs! My horse grew up around Bernese Mountain Dogs, and is
comfortable around loose dogs, but many people's may not be.
