dogs ride managers view
I am hosting a 100 mile ride on May 23.
I have clearly written on the ride announcement that dogs are welcome
but must be on leashs at all times. I have also added that all children
must be supervised at all times.
Riders are responsible for their dogs , crew and guests.
Any violation of the above will result in the rider being disqualified.
I have not had any problems at any ride I have attended with dogs but I
have seen young children left in camp while mom and dad hit the trail to
do a quick 50.
I am not sure what would happen if the kids got hurt. Medical care can
not be given without parental consent.
At one ride I was volunteering I found 3 kids under the age of 7 going
to the river for a swim....
I turned them arround and sent them back to camp. I shudder to think of
what could have happened if I had not stopped them. The river was high
and fast.
For 2 of them the parents were both riding and the 3rd dad was crewing
and thought JR was safe with the other kids playing. He did not realize
they were alone unsupervised.
